Premium Meat Sea Cucumber

is a type of sea cucumber. It is believed to have many health benefits, such as improving kidney function, nourishing the blood, and enhancing male vitality. The process of soaking and cooking sea cucumber can be time-consuming, but it is worth it. Here is a simple recipe that you can try:

Ingredients:

  • 1 sea cucumber
  • 3 canned abalones
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon bean paste
  • A little bit of scallion

Instructions:

  1. Soak the sea cucumber in boiling water for 20-30 minutes, then turn off the heat and let it sit for 3 hours. Change the water and soak it in the refrigerator for 24 hours, changing the water once during that time.
  2. On the second day, the sea cucumber will expand. You can cut it open and remove the internal organs. Boil a pot of water and add the sea cucumber. Cook for 15 minutes, then add the abalones and cook for another 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it sit for 1-2 hours. Soak it in cold water for 12 hours, changing the water once during that time.
  3. On the third day, clean the internal organs of the sea cucumber. If it is not fully soaked yet, you can boil it for 15 minutes to an hour, then soak it in cold water for 10 hours. Clean the intestines and soak it for another 3-4 days (5-6 days for larger ones) until it becomes soft.

For the recipe, cut the soaked sea cucumber into strips and boil it for 1 minute. Drain and set aside. Cut the abalones into strips. Heat up some oil in a pan and sauté the minced garlic, ginger, and bean paste. Add the following seasonings and bring to a boil: black vinegar, sugar, Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, pepper, sesame oil, and a little bit of salt. Pour the sauce over the sea cucumber and abalones. Garnish with scallions and serve.
